Variety of low maintenance materials are used to focus on sustainability issues, which includes the simplicity in exterior forms. In the interior, the large entertaining area includes the kitchen, dining room and living room which opens onto a large outdoor covered patiocreating a great space for outdoor living and blurring the boundary between the two.

Overlooking the first floor, a loft space offers a soft transition between public and private areas of the house. Perfectly positioned windows fill the home with an abundant amount of natural light and create a strong connection with the landscape.

Modern Minimalist Design

This house was designed to capture the spirit of Sydney’s Bondi Beach in a home which both beach house and urban style dwelling. The line of the wave is the underlying element which runs through the house. It forms an entry wing over the garage at the south and rises to give greater height to the living room at the north end. Kitchen, dining and living areas are combined and lead out to the garden. The centrepiece of the area is a built-in, cantilevered polished concrete workbench in the shape of a moulded seven. High windows run the length of one wall, while a low, glassed wall on the other side looks out on an elegant pool. Despite plenty of glass, the neighbouring houses are not visible. Because glass is everywhere in the house it isn’t surprise that the owner also owns glass supply business.

Modern & Glamour Minimalist Design

The Verdant Avenue House by Robert Mills Architects is a home that showcases a modern aesthetic, form, function and details alongside the nature. Besides, the home is sustainable without losing in glamour, luxury and pleasure of living there. An 80 year old pin oak tree serves as the focal point for the ground floor living and first floor bedroom areas. A striking 3.5 meter wide spiral staircase is an another focal point on this floor. Floor to ceiling glass windows also add a dramatic touch to the interior. The exterior entertaining spaces separated from the ground floor areas by glass walls and sliding doors. There is a 25 metre lap pool outside, which runs the length of the building and provides natural evaporative cooling to the living areas.

Simple Steel & Wood Frame Compact House Design for Alam Sutera - Sustainable Residential Architecture Surpasses LEED and Style Standards

Architect Robert M. Cain has wearing his Green thinking cap when he came up with this fabulous, sustainable residential architecture design in Decatur, Georgia. The modern two-storey, 2,800-sq.-ft. RainShine Housewas named for its innovative design feature, a “butterfly” roof suspended over continuous clerestories that allow for sun-drenched interiors. This unique feature’s inverted winged shape collects rainwater for recycling, while also positioning roof-mounted photovoltaic cells southward to take full advantage of the sustainable solar energy. Beneath the eco-friendly roof, this sustainable architecture features expanses of thermal glass, and thick walls which naturally maintain a comfortable interior environment. According to the architect, “RainShine was constructed under the LEED for Homes Program Pilot Rating System. Upon completion it was awarded the highest possible rating – Platinum – for having exceeded the requirements by a significant 11 points.” RainShine House is also ENERGY STAR- and EarthCraft-certified, making it among the cleanest and Greenest residential designs around. Robert M.
